With these ready, all you need is charred seasonal citrus. Use a torch, grill, or pan to caramelize the fruit, then layer everything: a base of Greek or plain yogurt, the charred citrus, a drizzle of brown butter, and balsamic glaze. Finish with fresh mint—and voilà! Simple yet stunning dessert.

Ingredients for the Yogurt Dessert

☑️Yogurt
Use plain, unsweetened yogurt for the best results. Greek yogurt is ideal due to its thick consistency and lower water content. If using regular plain yogurt, strain it through a sieve for about 10 minutes to remove excess whey. The longer you strain, the thicker it becomes—just keep in mind this also reduces the final yield. A thick yogurt base ensures a creamy, non-watery dessert.

☑️Brown Butter
This ingredient is a game-changer, adding a deep nutty flavor and aroma that truly elevates the dessert. While optional, I highly recommend including it!

Brown butter is made by heating solid butter over medium heat, swirling it continuously until the milk solids turn golden brown and become fragrant. Remove from heat immediately to prevent burning. ☑️Citrus Fruits (Orange, Blood Orange, or Grapefruit)
Any citrus works beautifully in this dessert. Peel and slice into rounds, then char using a kitchen torch until caramelized. No torch? No problem! Use a grill pan, a hot skillet with a dash of oil, or even an air fryer. For grapefruit, you can sprinkle a little sugar before torching to balance its natural bitterness, though it’s entirely optional.

Finish with a few fresh mint leaves—optional but highly recommended! They add a refreshing aroma and a hint of brightness that complements the dessert beautifully.

Ingredients

  • 2 Citrus fruit, peeled and sliced rounds
  • Fresh berries (Rasberries or Blueberries) - optional
  • Balsamic Glaze, store-bought or homemade
  • 2-3 tbsp Brown Butter
  • 6 big tbsp Greek Yogurt, 3 spoonfuls on each plate
  • Mint leaves

  1. Make brown butter. Check the recipe link above. 
  2. Peel citrus with a knife and slice into rounds.
  3. Torch the slices on a tray until nicely charred.
  4. Spread Greek yogurt onto plates.
  5. Arrange the charred citrus and or fresh berries on top 
  6. Drizzle with brown butter and balsamic glaze.
  7. Garnish with mint leaves.
